I had every intention of sharing all the home organization I’ve been doing this month, step-by-step. It hasn’t happened, oh the organizing has, but not the sharing. For a couple of very simple reasons:
Number 1 – It’s embarrassing and mess is ugly. Stuffed drawers and closets do not take pretty pictures.
Exhibit A- the hall linen closet.
Exhibit B- not one but TWO junk drawers.
Exhibit C- This is all the
junk, essentials I’ve been carrying around in my purse the last 4 months.
And of course remember my disastrous craft room, Exhibit D-
Embarrassing and not cute.
Number 2– I didn’t reinvent the wheel. There are no brilliant storage ideas to be found. No canisters, boxes, dividers, I didn’t buy anything new, basically I just got rid of what I didn’t need/want and put everything else neatly away. It’s kind of like loosing weight with diet and exercise, it works, but it’s not exciting. Here are some of my results if you are curious.
My hall linen closet, is lighter by 4 HUGE trash bags. The linen is shelved according to room.
Both junk drawers are clean, school supplies on the left, home supplies on the right.
My purse has lost some weight, this is all I am carrying now.
And my craft room, it is squeaky clean, comfortable and inspiring, to me. It is not ‘beautiful’, not like the ones I drool over on Pinterest. However I can find everything, I have lots of work space, and it’s flooded with sunlight all day, what more could I ask for?
I am so thankful to have a space where I can go and create.
The rest of my house is in order too, pretty much. I’ve learned that I hang on to things way to long, and that when I get too busy, I get lazy about putting things away. So there you have it, the chaos is mostly gone, at least for a while!
Here’s to some pretty pictures and some creative ideas in the near future!
